My day in Manhattan

So Daniel and I bought tickets awhile ago to come up to New York before we knew he was moving. I decided to come up by myself and had such a fun day! I was able to go to the temple in the morning and then spent the rest of the day just walking around the city (5 miles!) and snapping lots of pictures. I love cities, there's just so much to look at! Normally I don't get posts up so fast but I'm procrastinating doing my seminary lesson, so enjoy the ginormous amount of pictures!

Always like to make a stop here -yummy yummy burgers.

Although its always so busy theres never room to sit, I ended up getting mine to go and eating at a table with a random stranger in a food court. New York needs more benches!

Can't go somewhere else without getting a cupcake. Hope Portland's cupcakes aren't as disappointing as Philly's.

NY Times

Bryant Park

I LOVE this building. Black buildings are just cool.

NY Public Library

I just thought this clock was cool

Shopping on 5th avenue

Some of the shopping concerned me . . .

Wait, what city am I in?

Central Park

I told Daniel one day he has to take me on a carriage ride through Central Park

Preferably with one of these Vegas showgirl horses

I think this was Time Warner? Can't remember

Columbus Circle? I can't remember either.

Love me some Letterman

Times Square

One of my favorites. Scratch that, my favorite.

More Times Square

That's a dirty windshield not snow

And, the temple. My bus was late and it was a 2 mile hike to the temple. I was worried I was lost til I saw this above me :)

I've never been to the Manhattan temple, it was very different than any I'd been to before - there's no temple grounds, its just right on the street and in the same building with other stuff.  It was kind of weird stepping out of the temple right into people smoking on the street! It was also super teeny. It was really cool though, because even though it was different, it was the same as every other temple - the House of the Lord. I felt the same Spirit and was reminded again of the tremendous blessings that come from the temple.  I'm so grateful to have received my temple ordinances, especially being sealed to Daniel. It's such a blessing to know that no matter what happens to us and what trials we face in this life, as long as we keep trying we will be together as a family forever. It makes it a little easier to be so far apart now, knowing that we are sealed together for eternity. I can't wait to live closer to the temple so I can feel the peace and comfort it brings more often!

All in all, an awesome day.  I wish Daniel could have been with me of course, but I really enjoyed exploring the city. It makes me sad that we won't be close anymore but hopefully I can find lots of fun things in Portland!

  2. You are so adventurous! I'm glad you got to enjoy the city even if you had to be on your own. Great pictures. What a big move for you guys to Portland! We just bough a house so we will be moving too, but just a few blocks. It's a bigger place so it will be great when visitors come. Next time you are in Cali we better get together, love and miss you guys:)
