kittens and cupcakes

Yesterday we had a cake auction to help the girls in our ward raise money for camp. I made a "painter's palette of decadent dark chocolate cupcakes with painted cream cheese frosting." I don't know how good they tasted but they were definitely the most colorful cupcakes I've made!
We also have been babysitting my friend Shae's kitten for the last few days. Her name is Sasha Fierce but I had to tell Shae that the kitty's private parts denote otherwise. Anyway he/she has been lots of fun to have around. We think he has narcolepsy because one second he's going crazy jumping up and down and then he's passed out. She's such a good snuggler when she finally settles down. The other day she got poo all over her foot and was very angry with me when I cleaned it off but a few minutes later was snuggling on my chest, she's very forgiving. She reinforced that we cannot get a kitten until I'm done with school because she is quite the distraction!

And some other random things from our life in Philly . . .

Our herb garden. The cilantro's a little out of control.
Purple fountain!
Chillin at the beach
This dog was the size of a bear, no joke. Her owner says she only eats three cups a day!
Ginormous brownie sunday from Bucca di Beppo. Next time I think we'll go for quality, not quantity.

Princeton

On Saturday Daniel and I went up to his flight school in Princeton, NJ. We spent some time before walking around the town and Princeton's campus. It's gorgeous with lots of beautiful old buildings and landscapes. Apparently 2/3 of Princeton's students get their entire tuition paid for. (We wish we were that lucky) Unfortunately Daniel didn't get to fly because it was rainy, but we had a really fun day together and dreamed about being uppety and rich enough to live in North Jersey.

Vive la France

A few weeks ago Daniel and I went to French arts festival where they turned Broad st. into the streets of Paris. There was a carousel, lights everywhere, moving statues, lots of little shops, yummy things we wish could have eaten, and lots of other fun stuff like a crazy contortionist who fit his whole body through a squash racquet! We ended up waiting like two hours for the grand finale smushed up against a cement wall with millions of people who were ready to snap at any moment! But it was pretty freaking cool: fire, acrobats, and musicians dangling high above the city in a crazy contraption. I tried uploading the video of it but it took WAY too long so you'll just have to imagine it!

Seafoam!

Lately I am obsessed with anything seafoam green - bags, purses, swimsuits - all of it! I just can't get enough! I've yet to buy anything in the color since we have so little mula, even though Daniel will tell you I drool over anything seafoam. Here's a little bit of my cravings in the shade, maybe you'll catch some of the fetish.

On another note, Daniel's mom came to visit this weekend - we had so much fun going to the beach and walking around Philly and we exposed her to the deliciousness of east coast food. I'll have to upload pictures when I get the chance to hook up the camera - I'm supposed to be doing homework right now instead of dreaming about seafoam . . . oh and Daniel and I have been together for a year now! Woohoo!
