My day in Manhattan

So Daniel and I bought tickets awhile ago to come up to New York before we knew he was moving. I decided to come up by myself and had such a fun day! I was able to go to the temple in the morning and then spent the rest of the day just walking around the city (5 miles!) and snapping lots of pictures. I love cities, there's just so much to look at! Normally I don't get posts up so fast but I'm procrastinating doing my seminary lesson, so enjoy the ginormous amount of pictures!

Always like to make a stop here -yummy yummy burgers.

Although its always so busy theres never room to sit, I ended up getting mine to go and eating at a table with a random stranger in a food court. New York needs more benches!

Can't go somewhere else without getting a cupcake. Hope Portland's cupcakes aren't as disappointing as Philly's.

NY Times

Bryant Park

I LOVE this building. Black buildings are just cool.

NY Public Library

I just thought this clock was cool

Shopping on 5th avenue

Some of the shopping concerned me . . .

30 Rock

Wait, what city am I in?

Central Park

I told Daniel one day he has to take me on a carriage ride through Central Park

Preferably with one of these Vegas showgirl horses

I think this was Time Warner? Can't remember

Columbus Circle? I can't remember either.

Love me some Letterman

Broadway!

I've never seen mamma mia

Mmmmm chocolate

Times Square

One of my favorites. Scratch that, my favorite.

More Times Square

That's a dirty windshield not snow

And, the temple. My bus was late and it was a 2 mile hike to the temple. I was worried I was lost til I saw this above me :)

I've never been to the Manhattan temple, it was very different than any I'd been to before - there's no temple grounds, its just right on the street and in the same building with other stuff.  It was kind of weird stepping out of the temple right into people smoking on the street! It was also super teeny. It was really cool though, because even though it was different, it was the same as every other temple - the House of the Lord. I felt the same Spirit and was reminded again of the tremendous blessings that come from the temple.  I'm so grateful to have received my temple ordinances, especially being sealed to Daniel. It's such a blessing to know that no matter what happens to us and what trials we face in this life, as long as we keep trying we will be together as a family forever. It makes it a little easier to be so far apart now, knowing that we are sealed together for eternity. I can't wait to live closer to the temple so I can feel the peace and comfort it brings more often!

All in all, an awesome day.  I wish Daniel could have been with me of course, but I really enjoyed exploring the city. It makes me sad that we won't be close anymore but hopefully I can find lots of fun things in Portland!

i've made it 4 days

Only 61 to go. It's 8:00 and all I feel like doing is going to bed so I don't have to miss Daniel. It hasn't been too bad so far since I've been spending time with friends and family but really only hasn't been too bad because I try not to let myself think about it. I just wanna say that it really really sucks to not get to see your best friend every day and it really really sucks that daniel and I have been together almost two years now and a quarter of that we have been living 3000 miles away from each other. I'm grateful for Rocky's company, grateful for my brother's wonderful family, grateful for friends, and (sort of) grateful for homework to keep me busy. Because without all that the next few months would do nothing but suck. Pretty sure June 16th will be one of the happiest days of my life.

our little rockster

So to be honest I get a little annoyed when people have blogs or instagrams and ONLY ever post pictures of their babies.  Kids I can handle, they do cute stuff - but babies? when they're just sitting there in the same position with different outfits on? Get's a little boring.  And how about a picture of you with the baby every once in awhile? I realized however that I am dangerously close to becoming one of those people with our cat Rocky.  I'm pretty sure I could take pictures of him all day and make an entire blog with just him.  Which is probably ten times more annoying to people than the baby blogs. We had Rocky declawed a week and a half ago and he was extra snuggly on his painkiller after surgery which led to extra picture taking.  So here is a post dedicated (mostly) to our little boy.  There's some human pics at the end for those of you who don't like cats.

Rocky loves his peeps!
Second best thing next to waking up next to Daniel? Waking up next to this little guy
He came back from the vet with fleas which led to his first bath (not to get rid of the fleas but to wash off the apparently toxic flea treatment we gave him. stupid walmart)

He fell off this ledge several times today because he's so fat.
Daniel and I on the way to dinner
Can't get enough of this kid
Dakotah's new little brother! So teeny!
On our way to easter dinner
